Rasta village – located on the outskirts of Montego Bay, Rastafari Indigenous Village is a living breathing vibrant cultural center that offers you an opportunity to experience the Rastafari way of life in present day.
You can choose between a half or a full-day tour, you will be given the unique opportunity to connect with Rastafarians, and learn more about their unique culture, values and how they live in the present days as opposed to the past. On site you will able to meet and converse with drum makers who create traditional drums by hand, using techniques that have been passed down through generations. If you are lucky you might get some impromptu drum playing lessons.
A guided tour of the organic vegetable and herb garden is also included in addition to an in-depth info session into the Rastafari vegan diet and its benefits, with the Rastafari elders you can then have an Ital meal with the Rastafari.
For those wishing to purchase traditional handicrafts and handcrafted jewelry, a small store is located on the property. The tour concludes with a traditional rousing performance with the use of Rastafari drums and instruments with singing (songs tend to be in the Jamaican dialect, heavily spoken by Rastafarians) in the center of the village.
